Dropbox rabbit traps are a type of multiple live catch trap that work in conjunction with rabbit proof fencing.
These traps allow rabbits free passage through the fence line via a tunnel system over a buried holding cellar. As soon as a volume of rabbits become accustomed to using the tunnel system, the door system can be set. Once the trap door system is set the traps will catch as many rabbits that pass through overnight. From as few as one to as many as fifty per night.
Dropboxes are a very important tool for controlling rabbit populations which has led us to install hundreds of these traps from Hampshire to the Hebrides and most counties in-between.
When rabbits are visiting from neighbouring land or from an area that is difficult to control via other means, they prevail where other methods may not. These traps are best situated along fence lines that work as a funnel for the traps. Where rabbits visit from adjacent areas which have been difficult to clear using other means such as motorways, railway lines, a neighbour or if a discreet service is needed in public areas these traps are very effective.
Rabbit proof fencing alone seldom stop determined rabbits from visiting their favourite feeding ground, in most cases where Dropboxes are not used they will dig under, climb over or chew through the fence. This problem is magnified if the fence isn’t erected to the correct standards. Fencing alone will only delay this problem, more measures are needed to solve it. Dropboxes resolve this issue and take pressure off the fencing by removing a very high percentage of the local population of rabbits.
Dropbox systems remove large numbers of rabbits in a quick and effective manner discreetly. At Evergreen we offer the service of correct rabbit proof fencing, supply, installation and monitoring of drop boxes.
With hundreds of these traps in operation we are systematically catching thousands of rabbits each year. We regard this method as a guaranteed solution to your rabbit problem.
