Railway Rabbits
Evergreen rabbit control was recently employed to eradicate rabbits along a substantial amount of railway embankment in the Midlands . These works were part of an important embankment restoration project to keep the area safe without effecting this important transport network.
After an independent survey by ecologists it was agreed that no excavation or earth work to installation of support wall or mesh could be installed until the rabbits had been removed which were also causing erosion.
Under the Animal Welfare act 2006 it is a offence to cause unnecessary suffering to any animal meaning to bury animals alive can carry a large fine of £20,000 or imprisonment .
We worked closely with the Network Rail safety team to ensure we removed every rabbit effectively with the aid of ferrets , nets and even used rope access methods in the more tricky locations .
We were able to get the job completed quickly and efficiently which meant little disruption to the live rail service and no delay was caused to the improvement scheme!
